Flying Tiger ace Tex Hill gone at 92

Trained as a Navy pilot, Tex Hill was recruited into the American Volunteer Group “Flying Tigers” where he logged 10.25 victories, and later 8 more flying P-51s for the USAAF. Before the wars end, he became the leader of the first jet fighter group flying Bell P-59s. Hill was the inspiration for John Wayne in the movie “Flying Tigers”, and in later years the Duke and Tex became hunting partners.
