Oshkosh 2006 - Page 5 12 cylinder engine - diesel apparently - on display in front of a government projects tent. There was no information on it, and I assume it was some experimental engine paid for with a government grant.
6 cylinder engine - also diesel, but air cooled this time. Still no information. Not even a sign.
The Rotec engine in 7 cyl and 9 cyl variants (about 100hp, and 150hp each) are being fitted to lots of airplanes. This is an Australian company, and they're doing well.
Garmin introduced it's G600 retrofit glass cockpit. Specs on it were still preliminary.
While the heritage flight is in the distance, and at least a half dozen Mustangs were in the air, these P-51s were the spares. I don't know how many Mustangs were at Oshkosh, but it was a lot.
A couple of Breezys were hopping rides all week, giving people a chance to get bugs between their teeth.
The Ultralight field had it's own pattern going. Busy.
